Fuzhou Museum and Art Gallery - Concept Design Animation

Описание: MZA designed the New Fuzhou Museum and Art Gallery by marrying two major cultural elements of Fuzhou into the design: 1) "Three mountains, one water" (Yushan, Wushan, Pingshan mountains, and the Mingiang River) and 2) the Banyan tree.

The organic form of the building is abstracted from the regional culture and landscape, with a shape that echoed the surrounding "Three" mountains. Textured with a flowing liquid patterned façade integrated with recessed LED lighting, a vividly fluid and sparkling light show reflected the majestic Minjiang River at night.

Banyan trees have been cherished by the people of Fuzhou for centuries and they embodied Fuzhou's lifestyle and culture. The most dramatic experience in the building is the Banyan tree canopy-shaped atrium. The light-filled space is the continuation of the outdoor space for visitors to enjoy artwork amongst the landscape. Within the atrium, feature steps link to other halls and galleries with interactive exhibits.

Museum's top floor and the roof are lined with patios, and gardens and its modern roof overhangs are inspired by the eaves of Liangcuo, a traditional building in the historical village west of the site. The landscaped patio at the atrium roof integrates the functions of rainwater collection, solar energy collection, natural ventilation, and daylighting.

The Fuzhou Museum and Art Gallery's architecture reflected Fuzhou's culture, utilized a sustainable design strategy, and with its modern, artistic expression of the building form creates a brand new landmark along the riverfront of Fuzhou.
