Hanbo-Jutsu (or 半棒術 in Japanese) includes the fighting techniques ( 術 Jutsu) with a semi Bo ( 半棒 Hanbō), also know as Sanshakubo (or Sanjakubo). Literally this name means a staff (bō) with the length of three (san) shaku ( 尺 ), while a shaku is approximately 30.3 centimeters or 11.9 inches long (standardized as 10/33 meter). In this video (recorded on 26 September 2025), budoka Johan Oldenkamp, a former national champion from the Netherlands, performs the Kihon-Kata (or 基本型 in Japanese) of Hanbo-Jutsu developed by Wim van de Leur (1944), 7th Dan in Ryukyu Kobujutsu and also from the Netherlands. Johan does this from both Migi Kamae (normal) and Hidari Kamae (Ura or 裏 in Japanese). To watch his video with the names of each teachnique, go to :
