The author is known mostly for his horror and mystery stories, but those selected for this reading lean more into science fiction. The first story is called The Learning Maze, and was first published in an anthology which was named for it in 1974. It was then re-printed in a collection of the author's stories three years later entitled Cold Chills, as well as The Best of Robert Bloch, also released in 1977. The second story, How Like A God, first appeared in the April 1969 issue of Galaxy Magazine, and then again in both Cold Chills and The Best Of...and it is from that last that each are now read.
