Hi everyone. Several months ago we went though the Black Hills area and visited the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota. We had the opportunity to see a presentation by Brave Star Woman, (Lakota) Starr Chief Eagle (English) of the Lakota Nation.
Starr Chief Eagle is an enrolled member of the Sicangu (Rosebud) Lakota Sioux Tribe. She was born with the Lakota name Wichahpi Tokahe (First Star) and was later given the Lakota name Wichahpi Ohitika Winyan (Brave Star Woman) as she entered into adulthood. She grew up in the Black Hills of South Dakota including Rapid City and the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and started hoop dancing before she could walk. Since then, she has been practicing every year to perfect her techniques and skills. Starr was raised up in hoop dancing by her father Dallas Chief Eagle and continues to carry on his teachings with a combination of her own.

We hope you will enjoy her presentation. We will have the entire Hoop Dance in our video coming up this Friday!

Unlike the others we don't create beautiful art, but do love the arts. One of those arts is dance and we hope you enjoy seeing the Lakota Hoop Dance as preformed by Brave Star Woman!
We also loved our visit to the Crazy Horse Memorial! This is an absolutely wonderful Memorial filled with the history of the Indigenous People of America's past and present! As we entered the Memorial I had filmed a rather ugly intro and my opinion of Mr. Custer ( a man who doesn't deserve being called General and he really wasn't other than a temporary Civil War designation) and Crazy Horse. It didn't fit with the Memorial's Celebration of Peace, Hope and Love!

The memorial has turned down Federal Funding multiple times and includes the finest Indigenous Museum (Indian Museum of North America) we've ever had the privilege of visiting. It includes artifacts and history of most North American Nations.
We spent a full day and loved it. We have much more footage that will be released in a video on "Indigenous Peoples Day," Monday Oct. 9th!
In the meantime we hope you enjoy this and Fridays video. Thanks so much for watching!
