In this video, we dive into part one of our two-part series on restoring the badly rusted fuel tank of a 1991 Yamaha RT180 dirt bike. Previously cleaned with muriatic (hydrochloric) acid, the tank was left empty for a year, causing it to rust again. To prevent this, we decided to line the inside of the tank using the Kreem® Tank Lining Kit, which includes phosphoric acid.

Join us as we encounter various challenges with the Kreem® Tank Lining Kit, from removing rust and rinsing the tank to dealing with persistent pinholes. Despite our efforts with the Kreem® Kit, and even resorting to trying basic vinegar, we had to revert to good old muriatic acid for the final cleanup.

Here's a step-by-step look at our restoration process:
• Cleaning the tank with muriatic acid and baking soda.
• Attempting to use the Kreem Tank Lining Kit's three-part system: phosphoric acid, tank prep conditioner (Acetone), and Kreem® tank liner.
• Dealing with unexpected issues, including new pinholes and rust reformation.
• Switching back to muriatic acid for a thorough clean.
• Preparing the tank for a fifth session of soldering pinholes.
