Serious concerns have been raised over the quality and hygiene of street food being served in Lahore, as shocking scenes from food preparation areas came to light. Many food outlets operating under the name of fast food were found preparing items in extremely unhygienic conditions, surrounded by filth, open garbage, and contaminated surfaces.

During surprise raids by the Bina Maazrat team, several street food points were inspected without prior notice. Inspectors discovered unsafe cooking practices, poor cleanliness, reused cooking oil, and a complete disregard for basic health standards. These conditions pose a serious threat to public health, especially for families and young people who regularly consume street food.

As the team arrived, several food stall owners attempted to hide their faces and avoid accountability, further highlighting awareness of wrongdoing. The crackdown exposed how, in the absence of strict monitoring, citizens’ health is being compromised daily in the name of cheap and quick food.

Authorities have warned that strict action will continue against violators, while citizens are demanding permanent monitoring, better regulation, and tougher penalties to ensure safe and hygienic food for the public.
