this video is about why writing letters, especially love letters, is one of the most underrated psychological tools for relationships and self-understanding.
you won't remember the text they sent, but you'll remember the letter they wrote you forever. and there's actual science behind why that happens.
writing letters hits half a dozen psychological and physiological levers at once. it gives you instant clarity about your feelings. it makes you choose your words more carefully. it boosts oxytocin and lowers cortisol. it synchronizes heart rates. it creates a 5 to 1 ratio of positive to negative words. and it literally rewrites your memories through your hippocampus.
there was a study at university of texas where couples who wrote three relationship letters to each other had a 77% chance of staying together three months later, compared to 50-something percent for couples who didn't write letters. the couples who wrote letters also started using more positive words in everyday conversation without even trying.
