May 5th is Japanese Children's Day. We celebrate the day with Kashiwamochi especially made for the day.
the oak (Kashiwa) leaf symbolizes the prosperity of the family.
Because old leaves would not fall until the young leaves grow.
I have already done a Kashiwa Mochi video before, using a microwave oven, but today, I will use a steamer to make it more authentic and to make it extra delicious. And actually, this is easier than a microwave.
・Kashiwa-Mochi 8 Mochi
40g Mochi-ko (glutinous rice flour)
100g Rice flour
20g sugar
140ml water
1 teaspoon potato starch
1 teaspoon water
180g red bean paste
8 Oak leaves
