HUGE RESPONSE TO FIRE AT LANDFILL SITE - High Volume Pumps, Off-Road Vehicles, BA Unit, Unmarked Car

Описание: Dozens of firefighters from across Greater Manchester responded to a large fire at a landfill site in Bury.

Just after midnight on the morning of, 14th October 2021, firefighters from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service responded to a 999 call reporting a fire on a landfill site on Pilsworth Road, Bury. The first crew on the scene – from Whitefield fire station – immediately assessed the situation and escalated the scale of the response.

At the height of the incident 12 fire engines, incident command unit, hose layer, 4x off-road vehicles, breathing apparatus unit, environmental protection unit and the Scorpion from Salford fire station attended the scene. The GMFRS drone unit also attended supporting the operation by providing live aerial images to the incident commander and those in the Command Unit.

The fire measured approximately fifty metres by fifty metres and involved domestic waste. There’s was a large amount of smoke in the area and residents were advised to keep their windows and doors closed if they lived nearby.
