Driving to the trail is ROUGH, 6.5 miles will take you over 30 minutes to drive if you don't have a vehicle meant for that kind of path. We took this trail in March around 2pm, it was hot even though it was only 85 degrees that day, I could not imagine hiking this in the heat of summer! If you are visiting in the warmer months, then definitely plan to hike this first thing in the morning because there is virtually no shade - also be sure to bring a ton of water - it is a short hike, but that sun is a killer on this trail! This is a fun trail to hike with kids and fairly easy too.
