In order to change 6/25 to decimal form we need to divide 6 by 25. We know that since 6 is smaller than 25 we are going to end up with a number less than 1.
We can divide 6/25 with a calculator or do it longhand. In this video I did the division longhand (but checked my answer with a calculator). When we divide 6 by 25, we get 0.24.
So: 6/25 = 0.24
0.24 is less than 1 so that is a good way to check if our answer is reasonable. You could also multiply your answer by the denominator and you should get the numerator. In this case 0.24 x 25 = 6.
Note that 6/25 and 0.24 represent the same quantity, they are just written in different formats. 6/25 is a fraction and 0.24 is in decimal form.
