Anchoring in Walsh Cove & Exploring Toba Inlet - Desolation Sound Marine Park, British Columbia

Описание: After we visited Grace Harbour and Prideaux Haven, our next place to anchor for a few days in Desolation Sound was Walsh Cove. Situated at the north end of the Waddington Channel between East Redonda and West Redonda Islands, it makes a sheltered starting point to explore Toba Inlet.

Walsh Cove is fronted by some small islets called the Gorges Islands. At low tide, they make for a spectacularly beautiful scene as the water around them is a greenish-turquoise color. The waters are rich in life fish, oysters, and kelp beds. Surrounding the cove are large hills and mountains and sheer rock cliffs.

Our trip up Toba Inlet, a deep mountain fjord, was disappointing due to a low-hanging shroud of wildfire smoke obscuring the coast mountain range and no grizzly bear sightings. We plan to return next spring for another shot at it. Even better when the snowpack is still on the mountains, and the multitude of waterfalls will be flowing.
