An enormous public outcry following a brutal rape in Bangladesh has triggered a fresh debate on the safety of women in the country. While the government has pushed for a strong deterrence through death penalty for rapists, experts believe that a lot of other things are required to be assessed and altered to bring a real change in the society. A large number of women, who gathered courage to come upfront post countrywide protests, have unveiled a widespread culture of sexual exploitation at workplace in the country. Recently, hundreds of them demonstrated and urged authorities to bring changes into laws that they say didn’t ensure a safe environment at their workplace.
