Here’s the difference between the main three microphone types used in music: dynamic, condenser and ribbon mics.
Dynamic mics tend to be more versatile. They can be used for a range of instruments (eg: drums, guitars) and vocals - and are great with recording louder sounds too.
Condenser mics tend to be more delicate and sensitive in the high end frequencies. They are generally used for vocals - but only in treated rooms due to their sensitivity towards picking up room reverb/reflections.
Ribbon mics are more of a smooth, silky sound. These are generally used on guitar amps, vocals or brass - giving each of them a warmer, and smoother tone overall.
Try each of these if you get the opportunity to do so - and see which one you like the best. All are great - it just comes down to your intent and goal with the sound you are recording.
