The Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is a Vedic chant dedicated to Lord Shiva, aimed at conquering the fear of death, inviting good health and spiritual well-being and ultimately seeking the Lord's grace to free oneself from the bondages of material life. Regular chanting of this mantra reduces fear of disease and alleviates suffering from illnesses by granting the devotee freedom from the fear of disease and death. It is taken from the rig veda dedicated to Rudra (the premieval form of Lord Shiva).
