Описание: Having decided to enter the Inter-Toto Cup, it seems the players aren't that keen on the idea of starting the next season in July and do their best to finish sixth. Humiliating defeats at home to Leeds and away at Everton, but also exciting wins over Derby and Middlesbrough and a 2-1 win at Tottenham mean that West Ham finish the season in fifth place. It remains The Hammer's best every finish in the Premier League but this is achieved with a minus seven goal difference, and with just 14 goals scored away from home all season. Hartson's sale to Wimbledon means the net spend for the season is a staggeringly low £140,000. All this, combined with the Youth Team's magnificent win in the FA Youth Cup means that the outlook for 1999-2000 is very good. If that defence can be sorted out.
