Can you train your photographic memory? Short answer - well yes, but actually no. Actual photographic memory (where you can do things like memorizing a whole book just by flapping through it for a few seconds) is impossible, but there definitely are methods of improving your visual memory. Of course, Yoav in his infinite hubris doesn't buy any of them, so he decides to test out a more straightforward method - drawing from memory. He definitely does not claim to have invented it, it is pretty much exactly what the master swordsman Piandao forces Sokka to do. But, so far it does sound promising. His aspiration is to be like Shallan Davar from "the stormlight archive": being able to draw images accurately after only having seen them for a brief period.
Watch the video to see a detailed explanation of the training method.
For those who are wondering about the background music, it was taken from the original soundtrack of Lupin the 3rd part 1. The name of the video is:
Lupin Prima Serie/OST/Theme Song 1/(BGM 4)
Although if you are wondering, Lupin doesn't actually have photographic memory (despite it being very fitting). It's surprising how few characters have this ability. Sherlock Holms doesn't have it either.
