Talang Pass is one the highest and most difficult passes of Dhauladhars and is been seldom used by shepherds and trekkers due to its difficult nature. It rises abrubtly from Kangra Valley making it difficult to negotiate. This pass also involves long walks on Snow. North-West of this pass is the highest peak of the region and Talang serves as the Base Camp for Matter Horn or Gauri Junda Peak (4946 meters). The name of the pass is derived from the local god Talang whose abode is supposed to be at the top of this pass. The trek from dharamshala side begins from near Chamunda/Jia and ends at Holi on the Chamba side. There are two very beautiful lakes near the pass (one is small though and called Dali) while the bigger one is called Arjun ka Talab and is the source of Bander khud. There are many beautiful waterfalls near the pass. This pass offers a commanding view of manimahesh kailash rage and pir panjals. There is a temple at the top of the pass made of rock slabs, cairns, tridents, sothus, bells dedicated to lord Talang. #talang #talangpass #travel #mountaineers #himalayas #himachal #dharamshala
