Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks launched their new book "Pumpkinheads" in a discussion with Linda Holmes at the 2019 Library of Congress National Book Festival in Washington, D.C.
Rainbow Rowell is the award-winning, No. 1 New York Times best-selling author of "Eleanor & Park," "Carry On," "Wayward Son" and others. "Pumpkinheads," with Faith Erin Hicks, is her debut graphic novel. Rowell began her career as a columnist and ad copywriter for the Omaha World-Herald. Both "Fangirl" and "Eleanor & Park," both published in 2013, were among the best young-adult fiction of the year, according to The New York Times.
Faith Erin Hicks is a writer and artist living in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her previous works include the "Nameless City" trilogy, "Friends with Boys," "The Last of Us: American Dreams" (with Neil Druckmann), "Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong" (with Prudence Shen) and the Eisner Award- winning "The Adventures of Superhero Girl." Her new graphic novel (with Rainbow Rowell) is "Pumpkinheads."
Linda Holmes is the host of "Pop Culture Happy Hour," NPR's roundtable culture and entertainment podcast. An expert on all things popular culture, Holmes has discussed the subject on NPR's "All Things Considered," "Morning Edition" and "Weekend Edition." Her first novel is "Evvie Drake Starts Over," which Holmes says is about "love and sad things and baseball and the state of Maine - all of which are irresistible."
