Alessia Zecchini dived into Y-40 for the first time without the usual Italian national team swimsuit. Instead, she was dressed, made up, and styled by the bodypainter Lela Perez, a body paint artist always ready to experiment with new characters and challenge herself even in aquatic environments thanks to waterproof bodypainting.

"The red of Alessia's dress, contrasting with the blue of her eyes and the pool water, is the fire that inhabits her," explains body painter Lela Perez. "This performance marries the Venetian Carnival, evoked by the dress and the gold of her headdress, with the Chinese New Year, which falls on the same day this year and is commemorated by the long red train that recalls the traditional dragon. I made the Queen of the Abyss a true living, underwater work of art, celebrating the Asian holiday and Shrove Tuesday in a single chromatic embrace."
