Years ago I was showing off my skill on landing gravel bars. I made a really big mistake. I landed a gravel bar that was around 100' long. If it had been a cool day at sea level it would have been no problem. That was not the case this day. I was at 3300 MSL and it was 85F degrees. Those two factors were a set up for a very close call. Landing was easy, take off was almost impossible.
I worked the elevator up and down doing my best to try and break the big 35" tires free from this river, finally I was released but not before I was scared really bad.
I learned a few lessons that day!
