It was the final take of the night, and the one that felt the most honest. Marvin Dark, the Los Angeles-native R&B singer and songwriter, builds his music around restraint, intimacy, and emotional detail, themes that run throughout his debut album "Up In Smoke".
With little more than a voice and his band drawing from a full range of emotions behind him, Marvin keeps things close on “Forbidden Fruit,” letting each line land with quiet intention before the feeling swells.
In the end, the performance leaves nowhere to hide, only the song and the truth sitting plainly in the room.
