Once upon a time…

There was a little shield made of soft silver.
It had never been to war. It had never been struck.
But it listened carefully every time the Master of the Armory spoke.

In the same land, there was a flame — wild and proud —
always dancing on the edge of cliffs and laughing in storms.
"I don’t need to hide," said the flame. "The wind obeys me!"
But the wind was listening too.

One day, a stranger came to the land.
Dark and unseen, it crept like a whisper beneath doors.
The shield felt a tug in its heart:

“Go, little one. Stand in front of the house.”

The silver shield went, though it trembled.
It wasn’t shiny. It wasn’t loud. But it stood.
Then came the wind — howling and burning with the stranger’s voice.

The flame leapt forward to fight, laughing as it danced.

“The brave burn fast,” said the stranger.
And the flame was gone.

But the shield?
It stood, and behind it, the house was safe.
The whisper passed, and the stranger faded.

Later, the Master of the Armory said:

“The fire was bold, but it did not listen.
The shield listened, so it became a wall.”
