Описание: John Galliano's Dior Couture collection was inspired by a cross reference of Flemish painters (specifically the soft blues and golds of Vermeer and the elaborate lace of Van Dyck) and the classic tight waisted, full skirted Fifties shapes of Monsieur Dior.

Galliano's approach was to provide value in quality, cut, and imagination, emphasizing the job is to make people dream. The silhouette evoked the romantic femininity of Dior's archives, exaggerated with surface ruffles and bouncing crinolined hemlines.

Seventeenth century Dutch elements included cross laced corseted backs and cartridge paper scrolls standing out on hips. As the collection progressed, tulip prints and blue and white Delftware embroideries peeked from the underskirts.

The finale featured a gorgeous deep burnt red dress with the stately dignity of an historical costume. Simpler, fresher looks appeared in ivory, such as a slim dress implanted with raw edged georgette rosettes and embroidered with silver leaves, and an ingenue off the shoulder Fifties dance dress banded with black bows.
