York's city walls, also known as the 'bar' walls, are one of the most intact example of medieval city defenses still existing in England. Beneath the medieval stone structure, remnants of older walls can be found, dating back to the Roman era.
The walk begins at the Micklegate Bar section of the walls to Lendal Bridge.
