Parking Distance Control faults in #BMW are mostly caused by moisture, when water reaches your #PDC module and shorts the connectors. Check out how to access the PDC module in BMW 1-Series E81/E82/E87/E88 to inspect of it's dry and not damaged by water.
You will need to disassemble trunk trim to access the control unit, as it's located in the bottom right corner of the car, under the side panel. Start with folding back row, removing everything from the trunk (including emergency kit, floor and bulb change cover), disassemble trunk light and 12V power outlet, remove plastic elements holding the mounting points and the remove the side trunk cover revealing the PDC module.
Parking system fault can also be caused by a faulty sensor itself and by damaged wiring or connector. You can inspect these from underneath the car.
