Looking for an easy homemade lunch? Try this simple and tasty Aloo Tamatar curry with Jeera Rice — perfect for everyday meals!
Ingredients for Aloo Tamatar Sabzi:
4 medium-sized potatoes (peeled, washed, and chopped)
2 medium tomatoes (pureed)
1 onion (chopped)
4-5 green chilies (chopped)
Crushed ginger and garlic (freshly crushed on a batta/silbatta)
1 tsp cumin seeds
A pinch of hing (asafoetida)
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp red chili powder
Salt to taste
1/2 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
2–3 glasses water
Mustard oil
Fresh coriander for garnish
Ingredients for Jeera Rice:
1 glass basmati rice (washed & soaked)
1.5 glasses water
1 tbsp oil or ghee
1 tsp cumin seeds
Salt to taste
Quick Method: How to make Aloo Tamatar Sabzi & Jeera Rice
Fry chopped potatoes in mustard oil until slightly golden. In the same oil, add cumin, hing, onion, green chilies, and crushed ginger-garlic. Sauté well. Add tomato puree and basic spices – turmeric, coriander, red chili, and salt. Once masala cooks, add fried potatoes and green peas. Cook until oil separates. Add 2–3 glasses of water and simmer. Garnish with coriander.
For Jeera Rice: Heat oil or ghee, add cumin, soaked rice, water, and salt. Cook for 10–12 minutes or 2 whistles in a pressure cooker.
