Chewang Town was historically an important post station on the Chishui River salt route from Sichuan to Guizhou. Its old street's teahouse culture is closely related to the customs of the old salt transport boat guilds. Chewang Town is rich in bamboo resources and is also known as the "Bamboo Town." The name "Chewang" originated in the Qing Dynasty from the fishing tool "Chewang" (车网), and was renamed during the Republic of China period because its terrain resembles the outer rim of a wheel, a name it retains to this day. This vividly records the historical changes of this land from natural fishing and hunting to the formation of a riverside settlement and market town. Meanwhile, Xinxi Old Street in Zhaoya Town, Luxian County, is one of the best-preserved Ming and Qing Dynasty ancient streets in Luzhou City. Its development was centered on Yangtze River water transport, flourishing because of the docks, and returning to tranquility due to modern transportation changes. The ancient post road connecting Xinxi Old Street to the river is a thousand-step stone staircase linking the docks and the old street. Formed by the mountain's terrain, it has 12 bends, each with a century-old banyan tree. The old street stands on a towering cliff on the banks of the Yangtze River, offering a truly breathtaking walkway experience.
