We enter through the Palace Street Gate, one of the entrances to the Dublin Castle grounds and we have a quick walk around.
On the immediate right hand side we see the Garda Museum, the Garda being the Irish police force for those watching from outside Ireland.
A lot of work goes into these videos. You can now buy me a pint as a means of appreciation for my work on Naked Ireland, no obligation, obviously - only if you can afford it... I appreciate it. Cheers.

The impressive looking stone building then seen straight ahead is the Chapel Royal with the round Record Tower on the right of it. If you get a chance, visit the interior of this building as it is designed in splendid Gothic Revival style. We’ll visit the interior on a separate video if you wanna wait for that.
It’s a wet and rainy day, but that shouldn’t put you off, this is pretty typical Irish weather.
Lovely Georgian architecture can be seen opposite the Chapel. There’s also been some Viking and Medieval excavation done revealing a subterranean chamber below this part of the castle grounds, again open to visitors.
As we go through the arch further on we emerge in another courtyard
…and we are heading now in the direction of the State Apartments. Again these can be visited as part of an organised tour and the ticket office is also just up ahead of us.
There’s a lovely garden in behind this building too and a couple of very nice exhibition spaces.
We pan around now past the Hibernia Conference Centre and that beautiful building with the tower is Bedford Hall.
We’re going to exit the grounds now and head back out towards Dame street again past Bedford Hall on the left and the Revenue Commissioners on the right, through Cork Hill Gate.
Dublin Castle was the centre of English and then British rule in Ireland since 1204 right up to Ireland’s partial independence in 1922. It was build on an original Viking settlement, which is why the excavations here have yielded such fascinating results – we’ll look at that in another video.
This video as I say is just a taster – I hope it’s been interesting, please think about giving it a like and subscribe to the channel so as not to miss anything.
