In this video Stephen demonstrates the effectiveness and technique of Euro Nymphing, a lesser known technique in BC, if not Canada.
The idea is to mimic, in this case a salmon egg, moving downstream and bumping along the bottom with no tension in the line. There is a colourful inline indicator that is tied in to sit on the surface with a corkscrew coil that communicates the tension in the line and is a trustworthy way to see the moment a fish strikes.
Euro nymphing is a great way to hook into some Brown Trout when they move from the lake and into the river to spawn. Though we were targeting Brown Trout we didn't actually catch any on this trip. We did however land four Rainbow Trout which bolsters the effectiveness of this technique.
