We stayed at Pussy Cat Flats Racecourse Campground just outside of Pine Creek on the start of the Kakadu Highway, site are $30 power & $15 unpowered children $5 p/n very clean amenities & laundry, $4 per load for washing machines, there is a playground, licensed bar with snacks, dog friendly and even a 9 hole golf course. The water is fine but hasn’t been tested to be classed as potable, there is free drinking water available in town at Pine Creek Park on Main Terrace and a public dump point in Ward Street.

Umbrawarra Gorge is 22km from Pine Creek, it’s a 2km return moderate walk into the gorge with a far amount of rock hopping & wading through water, after the first 350m the track finishes and it’s pick your own path from there.
The gorge is very colourful with plenty of interesting rock formations and heaps of rock pools to swim in.
