In the ninth episode of the Prometheus series, The Film Symbologist continues the analysis of Ridley Scott's 2012 science fiction film. In this installment, I further discuss the relationship between Peter Weyland and the David 8 android, I flesh out David's relationship to humans, and offer insight into the engineers and xenomorphs.

Unlike the 1979 Alien film, Prometheus is a parable and a work of moral philosophy that happens to take place in the Alien Universe. Understanding the film requires not only seeing the theatrical cut, deleted scenes, and bonus content, but also looking into references to literature, art, and other films.

This video refers to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein from 1818, which is considered to be the first work of science fiction by many. This gothic horror novel offers many parallels to Prometheus.
