Setting realistic boundaries from a place of sovereign authority is important this week, as we approach the New Moon in Capricorn (18/19 Jan 2026). The intentions we set on the New Moon are pivotal for the next lunar cycle as this leads to the New Moon in Aquarius with Solar Eclipse on 17th February, which opens the eclipse portal and aligns with the start of the Year of the Fire Horse. To work with the momentum of the Fire Horse energy, this is an opportunity for us to apply the Capricornian drive, focus and determination to achieve based on our inner authority and what we want for our own lives.

Today (12 Jan), the Sun sits between Venus and Mars, bringing balance between the feminine and masculine essence. The feminine leads this line-up by applying boundaries that are aligned with authority which, in turn, enables the soul-aligned drive and action.

With a Moon in Scorpio, in trine to the North Node and Jupiter Rx, but in square to Saturn & Neptune, we might have to go deep within our emotions to process what is still being revealed as this, in turn, enables us to close out cycles and patterns that are no longer aligned with our path, and offers profound inner expansion as a result.

When we reach the New Moon in Capricorn at the end of the week, the Sun & Moon are not the only conjunction, as we will have Mars and Mercury at 26 degrees Capricorn, as well as Pluto and Vesta at 3 degrees Aquarius. Authoritative expression must form, or inform, the action we want to take, and our transformation - as we align with this new reality - must be in conjunction with our sacred flame - that which inspires us and sparks the passion within.

The New Moon will show up with things under control, as the Ascendant/Rising of the chart as an astrological event will be in Virgo, and this of course supports the Capricornian energy. Pars Fortunae will in fact be in an EXACT conjunction with the Ascendant at the time of the New Moon, so our success (which can come in many forms) from our intention setting on this New Moon, comes from showing up with the same control and organised approach, also harnessing and respecting the power that the Capricornian focus can deliver through us.
