As of 7 p.m. on Saturday, 43 people are dead, including 15 children.
The initial flash flood warning had been issued for Kerr County as early as 1 a.m. on Friday, with a more dire Flash Flood Emergency being issued at 4:03 a.m.
Authorities say that although about 850 people have been rescued, with hundreds being saved by helicopter, an unknown number of people remain unaccounted for.
