FORTUNE READING in JAPAN 🇯🇵

Описание: Reading your fortune, or omikuji (おみくじ), at a Japanese shrine

1️⃣Omikuji stand - Most shrines and temples in Japan have a dedicated stand or box for omikuji. Look for the sign that says "おみくじ" or simply ask if you’re unsure! 🏯✨

2️⃣ Make a small offering - Drop a small coin (typically 100 yen) into the offering box as a sign of respect and gratitude before drawing your fortune 🍃

3️⃣ Shake the omikuji box - There will usually be a container filled with numbered sticks. Gently shake it until a stick falls out, each labeled with a unique number 🔢

4️⃣Find your fortune paper - Match the number on your stick to a drawer or slot with the same number, and take out your omikuji fortune paper. It will often be written in Japanese but may have English translations available 📜 (mine has, for example)

5️⃣ Interpret your fortune - Omikuji fortunes range from “great blessing” (大吉, daikichi) to “great curse” (大凶, daikyo). They may reveal guidance about health, love, travel, and more. No matter the fortune, it’s meant to guide you, either by reinforcing positivity or helping you prepare for challenges 🌅✨

6️⃣ Tie your fortune (if it’s bad) - If you draw a bad fortune, don’t worry! It’s customary to tie the paper onto a nearby omikuji rack or tree branch, which is believed to “leave” the bad luck behind at the shrine 🌳 Good fortunes can be kept as a lucky keepsake to bring you good luck wherever you go 🍀
