PAM Transport - Company Update from President & CEO - Dan Cushman

Описание: Trucker Wayne shares a message he received from Dan Cushman, President & CEO of PAM Transport, about the current status of PAM Transport.

"OK… another Monday, another update. We fell off substantially last week on miles and revenue, which means our drivers didn’t have a healthy week and PAM Transport didn’t have a healthy week. I don’t like that but it was expected. In fact, we have one more week of this until we see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Here is what is happening as I see it. When the #COVID19 #Virus hit and auto plants shut down apparel retailers were the next to follow. But, we were bolstered by retailers that were shipping the “necessities” which was enough volume for many carriers, including us, to stay healthy. When I say “stay healthy”, in this case I mean financially healthy. We had a very strong 1st Qtr. As CEO of PAM Transport I feel like it’s my responsibility to make sure everyone’s best interest are being considered. Our shareholders, our customers and our employees. I feel horrible that we had to #layoff a single person. I hate it. But maintaining the overall strength of the company is imperative, so we can continue to do all the things we need to do to insure our long term viability. We are doing that extremely well, to this point. Within the last two weeks, those “essentials” have tapered off. The surge shipping of “necessities” was not enough to make up for the loss of other revenue. But we had a great 1st Qtr and we are positioned well for the #future.

I’m worried about our #drivers. Trucker Wayne, one of our esteemed driving professionals and a friend of mine, mentioned to me that a lot our drivers out there haven’t been home for quite some time. They have stayed on the road, made personal #sacrifices, but now it’s time to get some much needed rest and home time. I wish I could do something to move them to the front of the line on testing and they could get the 15 minute result version of the test so they could get to their home environment knowing they were safe… but I don’t know how to pull that one off. I’m looking into it with the ATA but.. nothing yet. But we need to do all we can to communicate with them and try and meet their needs. They took care of us now let’s take care of them.

I read a book years ago titled “Hope Is Not A Strategy”… and I believe that but I am hoping and praying that the auto plants come back to production May 4th as planned. That will be an immediate boost to PAM Transport. So please hope and pray with me! I don’t think April can or will be real strong for us because we’ve had a couple off weeks. But there is no reason, once again, PAM Transport can’t exceed all expectations and buck the trend. Let’s collectively take care of the shareholders, the customers and all of our employees.

One more hope and prayer… I hope and pray that the momentum we all see in our nation, be thankful for truckers, is more than just a trend. I hope that the appreciation we have seen and heard for truck drivers is long lasting. Tell people what you do with pride. Tell people that we are truly in the role of first responders. Our #drivingprofessionals are putting themselves in harms way daily. But they do it without fanfare. Please give and show them appreciation always and let’s always remind others around us what we do… with #PAMPride!
