24 Awake in the Cosmic Dream

Описание: recommended a book called “Autobiography of a Yogi.” Today I’m not recommending a book, but a CD called “ An Informal Talk By Paramahansa Yogananda : Awake in the Cosmic Dream.” I’ve listened to it at least fifty times and don’t doubt that I’ll listen to it 50 more.

Seeing a great guru or master is the ultimate. Nothing replaces their presence, it’s so powerful. The next best thing is hearing them. In this CD you get a real sense of Yogananda. You get a sense of how accessible he was and his stories continue to be. He had a great sense of humor and you hear people laughing in the audience. This particular talk was recorded in 1952 shortly before his death.

This is talk that Paramahansa Yogananda gave at the Self-Realization Fellowship headquarters in Los Angeles, on his birthday. He talks about why he believes finding God is the only permanent solution to the problems of human existence.

I know I said you can only order through Self Realization, but you can find copies online too. Otherwise you can order directly from the Self-Realization Fellowship and support the work they do. And if you haven’t been and are in the Los Angeles area check it out.

A little information about the Fellowship. It is not a particular religious tradition, but honors Churches of All Religions. Services combine elements of Hinduism and Christianity and include meditation, lectures, and music.

A final quote from Yogananda about religion: "The true basis of religion is not belief, but intuitive experience. Intuition is the soul's power of knowing God. To know what religion is really all about, one must know God."
