🎥 SEBDR Sections 8 & 7 | Asheville to Tapoco | Max Patch + Wayah Bald Fire Tower

Today’s ride took me from Asheville to Tapoco Lodge on Sections 8 and 7 of the Southeast Backcountry Discovery Route (SEBDR).
The day started cold but warmed up into near-perfect riding conditions. These ended up being my fastest sections of the entire trip thanks to smooth gravel, long sweepers, and consistent elevation changes that let you stay in rhythm.
Two must-see stops on this stretch:
📍 Max Patch — wide open mountain views and a great place to reset
📍 Wayah Bald Fire Tower — climb the tower for one of the best panoramas on the route
Wrapped the day at Tapoco before turning south tomorrow toward Macon, then heading home.
If you’re riding the SEBDR, Sections 7 & 8 are absolutely worth slowing down for.
