4x5 Photography - Definition or Diffraction

Whilst out for a short trip to my local forest with the 4x5 I realised the shot I wanted to take posed a real challenge for large format, namely depth of field.
Large format cameras normally overcome this by using movements such as tilt but this scene had trees right in front of me which would drop quickly out of focus if I tried any clever tricks. There was nothing else for it but to stop right down and hope for the best, all the time conscious that diffraction might rob me of the sharpness I really needed.
