US and Saudi Arabia strike Iran-backed group in Iraq

Описание: Iraq's Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) says 20 of its fighters were killed and 32 wounded in strikes conducted jointly by the US and Saudi Arabia.

The PMF described the attacks as a "serious escalation" and a violation of Iraqi sovereignty. Riyadh and Washington say the operation targeted Iran-backed militias that have previously targeted US troops and Saudi energy infrastructure.

The PMF is a mostly Shi'ite paramilitary group that was formally integrated into Iraq's state security forces and is backed by Iran.
