Описание: BABE VOTE co-founder & board vice president Shiva Rajbhandari gave a passionate speech at 'Good Trouble Lives On' protest on the Idaho State Capitol steps on how to fight authoritarianism and save democracy.

Shiva Rajbhandari began selling BABE VOTE shirts in 9th grade to raise money for voter registration efforts ahead of the 2020 election. Since then, he has been instrumental in growing BABE VOTE from a catchphrase with clever branding to a youth-led pro-democracy organization strengthening youth civil society across Idaho.

Shiva gained national attention as a voice for youth power in government when he became the first student to serve on the Boise School District Board of Trustees in 2022, defeating an incumbent tied to a far-right militia group.

Since then, he has organized young people in Idaho and across the country around climate justice and trans rights in his work with Sunrise Movement and the Eve Devitt Fund, while growing BABE VOTE’s campus captain program and human rights advocacy as Board Vice President.

At the July 17th 'Good Trouble Lives On' Rally, hosted by Idaho 50501, Shiva spoke about his recent research on resistance to authoritarianism in Latin America and how we can apply those strategies here in Idaho to resist democratic erosion and build a pluralistic future.
