The Beccles Loops is a short stretch of track at Beccles Station on the Ipswich - Lowestoft East Suffolk Line. The loop is 10 years old on 10th December 2022.
The new passing loop enabled East Suffolk Line services to double frequency to 1 train per hour. The loop is roughly halfway along what was a 16-mile section of single track between Halesworth station and Oulton Broad junction. The line was originally double throughout but singled in two areas (the other between Saxmundham and Woodbridge) by British Rail in the mid 1980s.
Network Rail broke ground in April 2012 with the loop opening 10 December 2022.
