I test 16 different wood rocket stoves for science. I struggled to make rocket stoves work for a while but here's the steps to help you make you're next rocket stove.
1. Choose pine wood. It is soft and easy to work with.
2. 1 1/2 inch auger its the right size for drilling holes but my favorite one is the one with 1 inch smoke stack and 1 1/2 inch air inlet. It burns at a nice pace and lights up good.
3. If its windy I would use this stove. The wind just blows smoke back down the chimney.
4. Fat wood is the easiest way to light it Because it doesn't plug up the air way too much with tinder.
5. Have fun with it, that's what camping and bush crafting should be about.
