CIG quietly pulling Squadron 42 from old buyback packages. And Chris Roberts on record saying there won't be a long protracted marketing campaign when S42 is ready.

I'm putting three predictions on the record. Squadron 42 gets a release date announcement during Defensecon in May. The game ships in summer 2026, somewhere in the late July to August window. And preorders come back with a real price tag attached for the first time.

I also get into why pulling S42 from buyback was the right call for the long term health of the game, why the Drake and Ironclad showcase is a signal about where the studio's focus has shifted, and why the GTA 6 release window makes summer the only sensible launch target for CIG.
