I've always loved this music and when I found out that a Yamaha Organ played a big part in it, the GX-1, I realised I had to try on the EL-900. The trombone and brass are superb for that "Dudley Simpson" sound so because I needed some low notes they went on the lower manual. I mixed the theatre organ sounds which achieved a great counter melody presence. For the big synth sound at the end, I mixed the cosmic sounds on both manuals, and put one through the tremolo. Finally, five or six custom 2 bar rhythms strung together in a particular order using the sequence function meant we had the right percussion.
This arrangement is from the 7" single version of the theme and Dudley Simpson has an unusual middle 8 - all using the Yamaha GX-1 with a ride cymbal with bongos. I recreated it almost from memory so that it carries the spirit of the song rather than the technical accuracy. The music itself for the middle 8 I was unable to source so ended up transcribing it.
