Join me on a trip to the historic city of Mysore as I hunt down the most famous sweet in South India: Mysore Pak! 🍬✨
In this video, we visit the bustling Devaraja Market, a sensory overload of colorful flowers, fresh spices, and local life. But the real treasure lies just around the corner at Guru Sweets Mart—the shop run by the descendants of the man who actually invented this dessert!
Did you know? Mysore Pak was created by accident in the kitchens of the Mysore Palace. The royal cook, Kakasura Madappa, threw together gram flour, ghee, and sugar to create a dish for King Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV. When the King asked for the name, Madappa simply called it "Mysore Paka" (Mysore Sweet).
Watch as I taste the authentic version (it's different from what you get in other cities!) and dive deep into its royal history.
