Last night we returned to the ever-beloved MOTH Club to catch the fantastically unique plantoid.
With a sound is rooted somewhere in late-70s jazz-prog fusion but charged with a bright, playful indie spirit, this is astonishing musicianship with lightning-fast polyrhythmic jazz drumming and squealing guitar solos flying in every direction with a captivating vocal performance holding it all together. Music with warmth and character in abundance that’s constantly twisting into wildly unpredictable territory.
Complex enough to knock your socks off, but warm, bouncy and joyful at the same time, plantoid were perfect for the cosy magic of the MOTH Club, and more proof that it’s one of London’s best venues for discovering new bands and must be preserved!
