Active Voice
A sentence is said to be in the Active Voice when the subject performs the action expressed by the verb.
Passive Voice
A sentence is said to be in the Passive Voice when the subject receives the action expressed by the verb.
Key Rules (As Asked in Previous Year Papers)
Only transitive verbs (verbs with objects) can be changed into passive voice.
The object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive sentence.
The main verb is always in its past participle (V³) form in passive voice.
The subject in passive voice is often omitted if it is unknown or unimportant.
The tense of the sentence never changes during voice transformation.
Why Passive Voice Is Used (Exam Favourite Point)
When the doer is unknown
When the action is more important than the doer
In scientific, official, and formal writing
Example:
✔ The bridge was constructed in 1998.
Common Exam Pattern (From Previous Year Questions)
