The name "Baseco" comes from the Bataan Shipyard and Engineering Company, which once operated in the area. Baseco is considered an urban informal settlement, meaning it has developed without formal planning or regulation. This has led to challenges related to infrastructure, housing, and public services. One of my most interesting walks, Baseco is a place that I visit often to do feeding projects. The community is amazing, and although could be dangerous at times, the place is full of smiles.
