He was initially referred through multiple government hospitals and reached Yatharth Hospital, where he was evaluated and treated under the care of Dr. Vishal Kumar Chorasiya, Group Director - Liver Transplant, HPB, GI & Robotic Surgery.

Medical challenges included:

End-stage chronic liver disease

Recurrent ascites requiring repeated tapping

Coagulopathy and severe anemia

Hepatic encephalopathy

Hepatic renal dysfunction

Electrolyte imbalance

Intracranial bleeding due to coagulopathy
Prolonged ICU stay and critical pre-operative condition

The patient was carefully stabilised by a multidisciplinary team before being considered fit for transplant. After blood group matching, his brother-in-law selflessly volunteered as a living liver donor.

Following ethical clearances and detailed counselling, a successful liver transplant was performed. Post-surgery, the patient experienced a stable recovery, including management of a minor brain bleed. Today, nearly three months after transplant, he is doing well with no major complications.

Both the patient and donor express gratitude to the medical team for their care, guidance, and support throughout this challenging journey.

This case highlights the importance of timely referral, meticulous pre-operative management, and teamwork in achieving successful outcomes in complex liver transplant cases.
